First College English Writing Assigment

I was asked to write a brief response to the following statement.  Of course my definitition of brief is clearly much more conclusive than everyone else’s, so just roll with it!

The United States does not have required military service; on the other hand, many other countries across the world require at least a year’s service to the state.  Should the United States institute a similar practice? Why or why not? Use specific examples and reasons to justify your response.

The government should not mandate nor require any such service to one’s country or state.  It isn’t the government’s place to require citizens to serve their community because no where explicitly in the constitution does it specify that the government should regulate such service. Ergo, the government has no jurisdiction in such a matter.  Once the government assumes it has the authority to demand military service where does it stop?  And why should anyone fight and potentially die for a cause they don’t believe in?  Is that not a violation of an individual’s constitutional rights in terms of free cogitation, inquiry, and speech?

Military service should be something that individuals specifically seek to engage in and view as a privilege not a requisition.  Incentive is created by national pride and one’s own personal obligation to devote their time and self to the greatness of their country.  One of the biggest reasons our military is so successful and strong is because it’s strictly volunteer-based.  If one were to even contemplate stripping this imperative piece of the military away it would be detrimental to society as a whole.  I personally don’t want people fighting for me when they don’t feel fervor for the cause.

Former presidential candidate and U.S. Senator John Kerry said in 2004,

Education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.

This degrading statement, which Kerry jocularly claimed was a ‘botched joke’, inferred that those who serve in the military are somehow subservient in intellectual capacity.  Now if Kerry had any sort of understanding of statistics or the fact that almost all military servicemen and women have well over a high school diploma he may not have made such a statement, but then again his political identification has never been overly anxious to support our military.

In conclusion, a mandated military service would impose a serious detriment to our national defense system, which is exceedingly important now that we are in a time of war.  I have full faith in the volunteer-based military system we have now because it’s actually winning wars.  Whereas, when a draft was instituted (by Democrats!) we lost a war we could have won and our troops, many of whom did not feel inclined to serve were demoralized by fellow Americans.  Let Vietnam serve as the prime example as to why mandated military service is a colossal failure.

Brainless?

In case no one has pulled an Einstein on us and noticed the word taxpayer already means you pay taxes, I’m pretty certain that the only word to describe our current state of mind is with a two-syllable adjective: Brainless.

So, why is it that every time Congress reconvenes for another session they demand higher taxes? No, I’m not looking for the most obvious answer, dear readers. It’s not because Democrats control Congress. Well, actually it is, but for the purposes of arguing let’s understand why.
Surprisingly, the word “taxpayer” comes from the notion that we pay taxes! If you have managed to maintain a job (that disqualifies quite a portion of the Democratic Party, as the majority of them are welfare recipients) that comes with a regular pay stub – and you bothered to look at it – you’d see taxable deductions for things, such as:
1) Federal Income Tax
2) State Income Tax
3) Medicare Tax
4) Medicaid Tax
5) Social Security Tax
Yes, those things… you might not pay them since you work for cash. Please understand that when the federal government takes money from your paycheck, that money goes towards things like the military, roads, and schools. When the state government takes money from your paycheck, that money is allocated to things, such as roads, schools, police, fire departments, public libraries, etc. So, each paycheck, we as the taxpayers already pay taxes. So, if you live in a fantasy land where nobody actually pays taxes already, then you might genuinely be mystified by those taxpayers who vote down initiatives to increase taxes. Then again, you’re probably genuinely mystified by the fact that we continuously (brainlessly) keep supporting failing institutions like the Department of Education, whom need more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more money each and every election year. This is the ultimate Am-I-A-Democrat? Litmus test: Your solution to any and every problem is RAISE TAXES!
The logic of Democrats is so insanely preposterous that it literally is completely inconsequential in all forms. Exhibit A: When we were at peace, Democrats wanted to raise taxes. And now that there is a war, Democrats want to raise taxes. When there was a surplus, Democrats wanted to raise taxes. Now that there is a mild recession, Democrats, inevitably want to raise our taxes. There is perennially some sector of the economy Teddy Kennedy and his shills are longing to socialize and this, too, will require raising taxes. Predictable? If it wasn’t obvious, then it is now.
As Ann Coulter said in her #1 New York Times Best-Seller, Slander, “Taxes are like abortion, and not just because both are grotesque procedures supported by Democrats. You’re for them or against them. Taxes go up or down; government raises taxes or lowers them. But Democrats will not let the words “abortion” or “tax hikes” pass their lips. Which one was an “investment in our future” and which one is a “choice”? Was that killing babies or taking our money?”
I present the solution to all of your problems, Democrats, and again, this is not rocket-science: It’s called a budget. (That’s not just a buzzword you might have seen while skimming an article by the Wall Street Journal.) If I, the American taxpayer, have to live on a budget – meaning I can’t go out and spend $200 on Amazon.com book shopping splurges every two weeks – then the government can do so too! I know! It’s almost unbelievable! But the government already collects taxes. It already has an influx of money. Before the government screams for more of the taxpayer’s hard-earned money, maybe they could learn to balance the budget a little more efficiently. Hey, maybe I should go to my boss today and demand a $5/hour raise so I can afford those Amazon.com splurges each pay period. IT’S FANTASYLAND – SO IT MIGHT WORK. Wait, it already does! On the American taxpayer!!!

Incognito is an understatement!

As the erroneously blacklisted Joe McCarthy once said, “I realize full well how unpopular it is to lay hands on the laurels of a man who has been built into a great hero.  I very much dislike it, but I feel that it must be done if we are to intelligently make the proper decisions in the issues of life and death before us.”  Although, the gallant McCarthy was referring to the failed policies of Truman-appointee George C. Marshall, his relevant and courageous example should be followed when examining Barack Obama today.
Now given that I am an unabashed member of the Republican Party, I am expected by certain members of my party to throw my support towards John ‘straight talk express’ McCain.  Unarguably, I would have agreed to this same notion months ago: Always support your party no matter what the circumstances because while there are a lot of rotten republicans, there are no good democrats.  Sadly in my first presidential election as a 17 year old voter, I am convinced that this rule fails under the weight of John McCain’s liberalism.
Regrettably, three democrats are running for president.  I could spend all year discussing why John McCain isn’t a ‘true’ republican, but that’s not my case in point.  I am not only bewildered by the fact that Barack Obama  is even considered a viable candidate for president, but astounded by the American people’s blatant disregard for his inexperience, inconsistency, and manifestly obvious subversive tendencies (e.g. not saluting the American flag).
Contrary to the glamorized demigod the mainstream media has tried to turn Barack Obama into, it should be known that the authentic Barack Obama is incognito.  The coy media would never reveal or place heavy emphasis on the faults of their darling Barack Obama.  Here are a few examples:  He has quite the truancy record for both his tenures in the Illinois State Senate and U.S. Senate due to ‘family’ vacations to various exotic locations. He is an ardent anti-gay marriage legislation activist (another reason why the GOP is the party for gays—the Republicans just don’t want gays getting married; Democrats actually deceive them by pretending to be pro-gay!).  He can’t finish a sentence without uttering the words ‘change’, ‘hope’, or ‘inspiration’.  Apparently, if you don’t vote for Barack Obama, you are against hope in America and all of his other hackneyed verbiage because he clearly has sole dominion over these trite phrases and no other candidate is pro-hope.
The most concealed detail about Barack Obama is where he congregates every Sabbath day for church.  The “Unashamedly black and unapologetically Christian,” Trinity United Church of Christ located in Chicago, Illinois pastured by Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. (Obama’s esteemed mentor), is where Obama finds his spiritual fruit for the soul.  The controversial church preaches Afrocentrism, racism and Bush-bashing to its adoring congregation.  Now the latter may not appear to be as abominable as the former, but if that doesn’t spark the fire in your igniter the racist part should.  Recently, Wright’s most notorious statements have been headliners for various news outlets.  I would encourage you to read them.  Additionally, black Muslim Louis Farrakhan a.k.a. ‘the black Hitler’ has appeared on the cover of the Trumpet News magazine, the church’s publication, on numerous occasions.  One of his most famous racist retorts on the subject of ‘White America’ is “White people are potential humans – they haven’t evolved yet.”
Perhaps, it’s also unknown that Islamic mosques are being used to electioneer for Obama.  And no, for all of you optimists, these aren’t the self-proclaimed ‘Muslims for Bush’ quasi-groups that are adjuring for Obama’s election. Arabs and Muslims in various Islamic countries have endorsed Obama as their pick for the leader of the free-world.  This is not implying that all Muslims are terrorists, but as a statement of fact:  All terrorists have been Muslims.  Hamas sympathizer, CAIR, has also decided to endorse Barack Obama for President.  It’s safe to claim Barack Obama has won the Muslim vote!
To make my argument more feasible to the conservative movement, Barack Obama will impose a monumental detriment to everything we’ve achieved since the Reagan Revolution.  Instead of viewing Obama as some omnipotent, why not point out his most glaring problem: his air-headed liberalism and naiveté.  He assumes that because his campaign has phenomenal organization (to his credit), he is invincible and therefore impervious to political attacks.  His lack of experience speaks for itself.  However, the real issue spawns into pragmatism.  Obama will tax the economy to its demise, embrace defeat in the Middle East, abandon Israel, bomb our allies (much like Clinton did!), ‘hold hands and sing songs with Iran as they develop weapons and fund terrorists’ (as my good friend likes to say), and socialize not only health care, but the entire economic and private sectors.
Despite all of the obscurities about the Obamarama, my main inquiry is this:  Why has not one person been permitted to raise the Muslim question given the gravity of the charge?  Whenever conservatives have pointed out this worthy speculation of Muslim affiliation, they have been deemed agents of intolerance, bigots, religious zealots, among many other token epithets of the left.  Mitt Romney, former GOP presidential candidate, couldn’t enter a room without someone screaming ‘MORMON!’, and I don’t remember any Mormon ever bombing America.  However, the instant patriotic Americans even anticipate scrutinizing the ‘religion of peace’, we are being too close-minded and/or plotting a crusade.
Hopefully, asinine Obama supporters will acknowledge the fact that Obama doesn’t take a political position on any issue, and abandon their support for his candidacy.  Otherwise we really will be in for 4 years of “hope,” hoping for his disastrous term to be over.
